Hacienda La Minita is one of our all-time favorite farms in Costa Rica. We've been buying from them for many, many, many years. La Minita has been exporting coffee since 1985 - making them one of the first coffees to be sold as a single-estate offering in the world.
The plantation, in Los Santos, consists of a total of 1,200 acres of land of which 800 acres are currently in production. Of the remaining 400 acres, there are 200 acres of natural forest preserve located on the south side of the farm that will never be brought into coffee production.
Coffee is milled on site at Beneficio del Rio Tarrazu, just across the Tarrazu River. Their mill is one of the most technologically advanced and ecologically sound coffee processing facility in the world.
This coffee is a delicious washed coffee, the kind of coffee you can drink every single day and never be sad drinking. We get notes of dates, plums and cashews with caramel and honey sweetness. It has great body and a creamy mouthfeel.
