This is the first of a few direct trade coffees we’re bringing in from Costa Rica this year. We visited this beautiful farm in Tarrazu earlier this year and we were blown away by everything we saw, from the altitude (1700-2100 MASL), to the immaculate micro-mill, to all varietals being grown. Roger Urena is the type of farmer we love working with – he’s thoughtful and very progressive. Everything is being dried on raised beds and he’s super conscious of quality. This dedication to craft really shows up in this coffee. This particular lot is all Red Catuai, “white honey” processed (all the mucilage is removed, so basically a washed coffee).
Here we taste figs, red apples and mandarin oranges.
