Decaf Colombia Sugarcane EA

We're always excited when we find a decaf that doesn't taste like...well...decaf.

This one comes to us from the Cacua region of Colombia, a lot from the Centra Cooperativa Indigena del Cauca, made up of 2,373 members. After the coffee has been processed, it's taken to a facility that specialized in Sugarcane Ethyl Acetate (EA) decaffeination.

EA is a naturally occurring company and solvent that comes from the fermentation of sugarcane. They put the green coffee in tanks filled with water and EA which naturally bonds to the caffeine in the coffee, allowing for decaffeination. This process removes about 98% of the caffeine (which is then sold to energy drink companies).

The result is a very nice, sweet and balanced decaf coffee with notes of sugar, raisins, and pears. Great as both an espresso and a brew, you can't really go wrong with this coffee.

DIRECT TRADE COFFEE

To us, direct trade means that we've visited the farm, have a relationship with the producer, and understand how much of the price the producer is getting - and we'll share that with you as the "farmgate" price.Text
